Rob covacevich
Born and raised in Southern California, Rob Covacevich (a.k.a. Mr.C) played in the school band in elementary school, middle school, high school, and college which all lead towards a professional career as a musician and teacher. He established his passion for music early on when his parents (1st generation Japanese mother from Okinawa and Croatian-American father who served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 28 years) provided him with private clarinet lessons that eventually paid off by earning a full-ride music scholarship to study music at California State University Fullerton. After Mr. C earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in music education in 1998, he continued teaching and playing music ever since, and now he's here at Masuda Middle School to give his students the best musical experience possible. Since his arrival to Masuda in 2010, Mr. C has achieved the FVSD classified "Employee of the Year" award in 2012, he re-popularized Masuda's music program by doubling the size of both the band and the orchestra, he worked as Woodwind Caption Head for the Royal Regiment at FVHS from 2010-2013, and was recently awarded a large instrument donation from the Philharmonic Society of Orange County where Masuda received $10,000 worth of brand new instruments in 2013. Mr. C is now a fully credentialed, full-time music teacher in the FVSD teaching general music and band at both Cox and Plavan Elementary Schools as well as teaching band and orchestra here at Masuda. As a professional saxophone, clarinet and flute musician, Mr. C has performed thousands of concerts across the United States as well as internationally. He formed his own national touring band and spent 10 years of his life traveling the entire U.S as well as performing in Japan, Hawaii, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. He continues to be hired to play in Los Angeles and Orange County recording studios, music venues, and at large music festivals. Other than his passion for music, Mr. C also loves to watch sports (go Chargers!, go Padres!, go Clippers!), spending time with his wife Theresa and their dog Cali, surfing in Huntington Beach, and riding his beach cruiser along the beach in Belmont Shores.
